Warner Robins to Fort Valley, Georgia

In case some of you have not seen my facebook post on Joshua's Smiles Thrift Shop on Moody Rd. In Warner Robins, It caught my eye as I was passing by. I thought I would go in and see if they knew of any Church that would help put me up for the night. They did not, but we talked a bit about the walk and come to find out they are a nonprofit thrift store raising money and accepting donations for Childhood Cancer. Her son was diagnosed at age eight with leukemia and had passed at age eleven.

I don't know why, but that just touched my heart. When I got up this morning I felt on fire and all lit up inside. I said my morning prayers for me, my family, my friends, and people I have met on this journey and started off on my walk. Waiving to everyone that passed.

Still consumed with a desire to do something for Joshua's Smiles It came over me to stop at some of the Churches on my way out of town and ask them to pray for their business to do well so they can continue on their journey of raising money for Childhood Cancer Research. So I stopped at three of them and asked for just that and for prayers for my walk and my family. They all said they would and the Methodist Church on Russell Parkway prayed with me right then and there. I am sorry I didn't ask her name, but thank you so much and God Bless You! She was curious and asked about my walk, if I had Breakfast and about joshua's Smiles. She was a great example of a true and caring Christian.

Okay.....now about the walk. I just felt the spirit all morning. I was waving to everyone and smiling as they passed. Most waived and smiled back...some had that look like...okay, when did they let him out..lol..or not!

During the walk I had checked my messages and found out that some of my cousins were driving down from the Atlanta area to see me. I gave them my walking route for them to follow me. Now that was all well and good except for the fact that I had missed a turn and walked about 3-4 miles in the wrong direction. Upon realizing that and going up and down some pretty steep hills, I texted to tell them I missed the turn and that I was still on the road I was supposed to turn off. They pulled up behind me a few minutes later...after I  climbed the last big hill of  course. Now I felt like I was committing a sin, but since I had walked so far out of the way and I couldn't tell them...go ahead, I'll be there in three hours,  we loaded up my belongings and they brought me to the motel in Fort Valley. Milage wise it was probably a wash...but still had a little guilt. The other funny thing was actually riding in a vehicle. It seemed weird at first.

I had a short but nice  visit with them. They brought me a  big burger and a large fry from Wendy's. Now...wasn't I just treated special...yes, yes I was. Thanks to my wonderful cousins for their heroic deed of rescuing a "lost soul".
I also got to meet my littlest cousin for the first time...what a wonderful and handsome young man he was. And at one...he could work my phone better than me.

Wave..smile...say hello...let people know you care.

I JUST FEEL THE URGE TO WALK!

  1. Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord...and the Blessings keep coming your way! Glory be to God in the highest and peace to his people on earth. Not only are you doing a good thing for you, but you are touching God's people and he is smiling down on you for that. Keep up the good work...you need to say who is who in the pictures. They are my cousin's too!
You didn't call tonight after church so I figured you were probably sleeping. We prayed for you again in church and put the healing blood and protection around you on your walk, and may the Lord continue to work his way into your heart. Now you need to say the prayer to accept Jesus into your heart and life as your savior and Lord!
    Bless you brother!
    Hello again it's me Margaret!

  2. Thank you for your kind words, your personal sacrifice, and joy in the journey. You touched my heart that day, weeks ago, when you dropped by Christ United Methodist (on Russell) in Warner Robins, especially as you were feeling a holy tug at your heart towards God. We lifted you and Joshua's Smiles in prayer at our morning services. I am afraid I am just now getting to your blog to look for the support button, but am sure there is a blessing in the delay somehow. Perhaps just the encouragement today that Jesus lives every day within His faithful. Blessings! Your sister in Christ at ChristUMC
