Sylvania, Ga to Millen, Ga 20 miler!

I got a late start this morning. I didn't leave until 7:30 am. Yes I know...shame on me..lazy bones. Today I brought bananas and some raisens with me. I had planned on a hot breakfast...but was running late. So I just had the bananas and raisens for breakfast and munched on rhem throughout the day.

As I got near the edge of town..I spotted a recreation center. I thought I would check it out for water to refill my bottles. As I entered the parking lot I saw two young women with a baby, so I went over to them and asked if they knew where I could get some water. After telling me,  we talked about my walk a bit. It was really nice to meet them today. So I would like to shout out to Jennifer, Nicole, and Blakely,  I hope I spelled that right! Thanks for the conversation!

Today was a 20 mile walk with more traffic than the other roads...but the road had an 8 foot shoulder all the way. Now that in itself made it a nice walk. And just as my left leg was feeling pretty good...my right one just in front of the ankle started acting up. I wrapped it with an ace bandage and finished the rest of the 10 miles left to go. After checking in at a motel and taking my sock off, I could see that it had swollen and turned red. I can't wait till I get over these leg bumps in the road.

The worst part is my only two possible routes for tomorrow is either 29 miles on iffy roads...or 34 miles on a nice shouldered road. I think my feet will opt for the 10 hour walk rather than the 14-15 hour walk. There are no safe places to stay in between. And after seeing a huge dead I think copperhead snake, at this point I am not comfortable trying to stealth camp...maybe later...lol!

Lots of log trucks on the road today. Most of the drivers waved and blew their horns. I'll tell you..it sure was a nice refreshing smell that lingered for a bit after they passed. Nothing like the smell of fresh cut pine tree's.
That's about it for today!

I JUST FEEL THE URGE TO WALK!

And when I get out, Margaret
I'm going to come over there with an egg beater
And a live chicken, and some peach preserves!
We'll have a good old time, Margaret!

  3. I got another idea for you for tomorrow altogether, how about you sit it out and let that other leg rest so it won't become like your other leg did. Glad you took the food! Your good leg probably has been taking up the slack, probably favored it until the other got better, you best be careful my friend. Sending prayers and good wishes for a safe and now I will add, healthy journey. Glad for the nice people, not for the snake, but if it was a copper head better dead than alive. thinking of you! Love the pics, especially yesterdays and I forgot to mention that.
