Leaning Tree RV Campground to Sylvania, Ga.

Had thunderstorms during the night at the campground. They were kind enough to let me sleep under the pavilion, so I was able to stay dry, rain dry that Is. A shout out to Bubba from the campground and to Sean who was an RVer staying there. It was so hot and of course 100 percent humidity, I woke up full of sweat. It was hard to sleep because of the thunder, and of course as in any RV campground, people would come and go all hours of the night and early morning. The person in the spot next to the pavilion left at 5:00 am, so I just got up..packed up my tent and stuff...washed the sweat off and headed down the road at 6:45 am. I got to the city limits around 2:00 pm or so.

I stopped at T&D's just before the City limits, if I remember right, to eat since I hadn't eaten since Friday night,  and met about three different couples coming out and they all said they saw me on the road walking and asked about the walk. Unknown to me one of them went in and paid for my meal. The cashier told me when I went up to pay. Thank you and bless you Sir, it was very much appreciated. While eating another couple asked me about the walk,  I told them what it was for and they told me their son was Bi-polar and it was a great thing I was doing and wished me a safe trip. Thank you!

I checked in at the Sylvania Inn which turned out to be the nicest of the rooms so for. The rooms are spacious and pretty clean.

Today's walk was about 19 miles from the route I took. Google maps would have had me go 8 miles down a dirt road....not after raining most of the night. I took 301 all the way to Sylvania. Glad I got to meet and talk with the people I met today, and again, my thanks to them!

If I remember right...tomorrow's walk will be about 20 miles. I hope I can find a good place to stay. I think the weather will be steamy like today. They are calling for 39-50 Chance of rain all day tomorrow.

Okay..I got through one state, so I would like to challenge eveyone to donate, even if it is just $5.00 to your local mental health organization, or to a national or state one in support of mental health and suicide awareness,  since that is what the walk is about. And if you able and would like help support my walk, you can go to my gofund me site...there. is a link on the blog. Thank you all. God bless!

Some pics from today.

I JUST FEEL THE URGE TO WALK!

  1. Glad to hear about all of the people you met and how supportive they were. I am curious about your planned route. I did not have much success at Google maps, I even added foot route. Can you give us a look ahead. Wishing you the best on your journey.

  3. An old Irish toast...May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the rain fall softly on your fields, and the sun shine gently on your face, and until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand!!
