What a walk it was today. 30 miles that felt like 300. Am I getting old? The morning walk was a nice one. Stopped to use a bathroom at a flooring company. The man lead me past the customers restrooms to the back of the warehouse to use a 30 year old bathroom and the door didn't even shut all the way. I got the feeling he was judging me on the fact that I was pushing a cart and came in off the street. When I thanked him, he pointed to the counter and said take that and keep your card, give it to someone else. Well at least he did bless me with $5.00 I used for lunch. Then another couple stopped to tell me I had to turn around because the bridge was out. They were real nice and even asked if I thought my cart would fit in there car and they would drive me to where I needed to be. I told them I would check it out myself. They gave me a dollar and said that was all they had on them. What a blessing to receive even a dollar. As I got close to the bridge I saw I was able to get around the barricade and cross the bridge. Thank you all for the blessings everyone. And later down the road a couple bought me a bottled water. You don't turn down bottled water, that's for sure. God bless you!.
Now about lunch. As I was leaving Meridian, I stopped at a convenience store slash grill. I got a bunless burger and fresh sweet potato fries for a whopping $2.89. Yes, you read that right. And it was only 9:30 am. It took 2 1/2 hours to walk across Meridian the way google maps had me go.
As I left the store and continued my walk, both sides of the road were lined with tall trees. As I looked at the road it reminded me of Moses parting the sea, but only it was forest instead. It was like that for about ten miles. There were various spots along the way that were quite hilly like a roller coaster. Some were challenging and it made for the long day. I did hit a stretch of about 10 miles that was flat. That I enjoyed. During that stretch I came upon a Mississippi State Persian Gulf War Memorial and stopped to pay my respect. God bless the men and women who have fought and died for our country. And God bless those who are presently serving or have already served. We owe them a big thanks. Let them know we care!
About 6 miles before reaching Newton, the hills started again. I was pretty much wore out. Like I said in a older post, my body may be weary and tired, but my soul is on fire...so I marched on and with a lot of prayer and hearing Adam from an earlier post say keep on going, I finally made it to Newton.
The pictures posted are moving.
