Day 3 Hollywood, S. C. To Jacksonboro, S.C

Left the campground at 7:45 am. Walked my first 6.4 miles to the town of Ravenel. Had breakfast at the Harvest Moon restaurant. Then walked 13.6 more miles to Jacksonboro whereas I was told by three different people there was a motel just over the Edisto River bridge, they were right, only its been closed for years. Now there are no campgrounds or other motels. I lost a water bottle on the walk, so I ran out a good hour before Jacksonboro. So I stopped at a  Kangaroo Express at the junction of 17 and 64. I asked them if they knew of a place tp stay. The girl said no, you are out in the boonies now. I told her how far I walked and how far I have to go tomorrow and she said we are opened 24 hours, you can sit at a table all Night if you want. Guess. Where I am, you got it Kangaroo Express, thank you!

Forgot to mention the other day I had a car load spit at me, today I had 3 people swerve at me, and one guy, he must have been military, I say this because he gave me the one finger salute as he blew his horn.

On the good side I saw a man with a duffle bag as big as my backpack on a bike, he held out his hand as he went by and said "give me some skin". Then just up the road was a man a little older than me, looked to be on disability with a cain. He asked if I was going to Florida, I said no to California, he said all I have is a dollar, I can give It to you. I thanked him and declined, gave him one of my cards. He thanked me and said he would pray for me, and God bless you! That made the grueling day much better. Hips are sore, feet hurt like. &@!! Shoulders are sore, but I had two nice things happen today:) Here are just a few Pictures from today. Support Mental health and Suicide awareness, peace out!

  1. Hello again it's me Margret! Mikie I am so proud of you. Let your body be your guide and take some time to rest. Remember as I said the ripple affect. You are doing so fantastic! Inspiration for me. You gonna walk the Appalachian Trail with me when you recover from this walk? So nice to connect with you today.
I got a letter from Nick and now I have something inspiring to write to him about~you, and your walk!
God Bless you and Keep you!

  2. Hi Mike,
Glad to hear the wonderful gals at Kangaroo we're more hospitable than the passer by's. I have been there many times. It's hard to resist the Church's fried chicken, biscuits and honey! Be careful on 64, it is low country at its best. Love what you're doing!
